Community Overview

Wyandotte County, with roughly 160,000 residents, boasts one of the most vibrant economies in the state of Kansas and an amazing story of resurgence. Comprised of the cities of Bonner Springs, Edwardsville and Kansas City, Kansas, the entire county believes in a unified vision for the future. This vision has produced a monumental transformation over the last several years with the creation of the Metro's premier tourist and retail destination including Kansas Speedway, Nebraska Furniture Mart, Cabela's, The Legends at Village West, and Schlitterbahn Vacation Village. The explosion of development in the western portion of the City of Kansas City, Kansas is also paving the way for redevelopment opportunities in the eastern portion of the city.

With a focus on re-establishing downtown, housing revitalization already in progress and a strong commitment from the business community, the greatest resurgence story in Wyandotte County may still lay ahead.
The City of Bonner Springs has a balanced blend of housing; commercial, retail, and industrial development; and tourism. Utilizing local entertainment venues such as the Sandstone Amphitheater, National Agricultural Center and Hall of Fame, Kansas City Renaissance Festival, Sunflower Hills Golf Course, Wyandotte County Museum and Moon Marble Company, the city attracts 500,000 visitors annually. Residents enjoy a high quality of life including an aquatic park, new library under construction, parks and recreation and a thriving downtown business district.
The City of Edwardsville is quietly becoming a business success not only for western Wyandotte County, but the entire Kansas City metropolitan area. Located south of Kansas Speedway, Edwardsville features an excellent balance of developments and strong but manageable growth. Edwardsville is strategically situated with adjacent highway access to both I-70 and I-435 creating significant advantages for current business and residents, as well as the city’s growth potential.
