Leadership - Board Overview
The Wyandotte Economic Development Council, since its inception, has been fortunate to have a strong commitment from our partners, members, and community leaders. The Wyandotte EDC is governed by a 17-member Board of Directors, elected by the investors, which are charged with the management and control of the affairs of the Council. At least ten (10) of the seventeen Directors must be employed in or by the private sector and five (5) of these members shall consist of the elected mayors of Bonner Springs, Kansas; Edwardsville, Kansas; and the Unified Government of Kansas City, Kansas/Wyandotte County; a member appointed by the Board of Commissioners of the Unified Government of Kansas City, Kansas/Wyandotte County; and a member of the Board of Public Utilities of Kansas City, Kansas, as determined by the Board of Public Utilities.
From the 17 members of the Board of Directors, an Executive Committee is appointed. The Executive Committee, which is comprised of the Chairman, Vice and Second Vice Chairman, Secretary, Treasurer, and immediate Past Chairman, handle issues including: personnel matters of nonelected personnel, consultation with an attorney on behalf of the entire Council, financial matters, acquisition of property, and others permitted for executive meetings in the Kansas Open Meetings Act.
The Board of Directors is regularly scheduled to meet the second Wednesday of each month at 4:00 PM. The time, location, and agenda are posted under the News section of this website or you may contact Chris May at 913.371.3198 for board meeting details.
