The Wyandotte Economic Development Council is a membership organization led by a 17-member Board of Directors. The Board of Directors consists of both public and private members, including the Mayors of Kansas City, Bonner Springs and Edwardsville, a Wyandotte County Commissioner and a representative from the Kansas City Board of Public Utilities. The Board also includes members from private utilities, construction, legal, retail, education, engineering, architecture, real estate and private business interest.
Greg has over 20 years of experience in community and economic development, primarily in the Kansas City market.
Greg has served as the President of the Wyandotte Economic Development Council since 2011 and administers programs focused on business recruitment, business retention, marketing and workforce solutions. Greg and the WYEDC team identify ways in which to attract the right businesses for specific locations, retain the companies already located in the county, grow businesses through a variety of traditional and new approaches to economic development and identify strategies for long-term community growth, with the focus of establishing long-term relationships.
His unique background in economic development is beneficial to assisting Wyandotte County’s continued successful economic transformation that has resulted in more than $2 billion in announced investments in the last three years.
Danica Rome, Sr. Director Retention & Workforce Solutions
Marcia previously worked 31 years for the City of Bonner Springs, Kansas and during the last 15 years of her tenure, she served as the Community and Economic Development Director and Tourism Director. Her role with the City involved all aspects of economic development, including attraction, business retention and expansion, housing, incentives, development review, development agreements, marketing, tourism and formation of the specialty retail merchants group. She was also involved in supervision of the property maintenance department, grant writing and quality of life issues, such as downtown streetscapes, downtown revitalization, downtown park development, landscaping and signage improvements. She was an active member and past-president of the Bonner Springs-Edwardsville Chamber of Commerce and Kansas City Regional Destination Alliance.
Marcia gained IEDC certification in Economic Development in 2010 and brings a well-rounded wealth of experience to WYEDC. In her role of Business Retention and Expansion Coordinator for WYEDC, she works with businesses on growth opportunities by providing assistance with expansion and/or retention plans, relocation within the county and international trade.
Marcia and her husband, Jeff, live in Bonner Springs and have five children and seven grand-children.
Cari Lynn, Investor Relations Coordinator & Executive Assistant
Cari Lynn serves as the Investor Relations Coordinator and Executive Assistant for the Wyandotte Economic Development Council and has held this position since September 2013.
Cari has 8 years of experience in marketing having previously served as the Marketing Director for The R.H. Johnson Company in Kansas City, Missouri. Cari’s role at WYEDC includes marketing, website and social media management, event planning, scheduling and office management.
Cari is an “Original Dotte”, raised in Bonner Springs, and currently resides in Kansas City, Kansas.
