Why do you believe in the WYEDC?

I believe in the WYEDC mission, the people and the purpose.  “to promote and strengthen Wyandotte County's economy through innovative approaches to programs, partnerships, incentives and leadership in industrial, residential, office and retail markets."

Without the continual growth of business in a community, you’ll see substantial decline.  WYEDC is what drives new people and new opportunities into Wyandotte County and makes it a more attractive and livable place to be.  Communities must continually improve and better themselves in order to thrive and succeed.  There’s a lot of competition out there, and the economic arm of the local governments must pay attention to these opportunities and find ways to capitalize on them.  The Team at WYEDC gets it!

Why did you want to serve on the Board of WYEDC?

The Board of Directors for WYEDC provides me the opportunity to be introduced to the leaders of Wyandotte County’s growth engine . . . Business!  Whether it’s local business or business coming from outside our community, it’s important for my company to stay abreast of the activities driving business to our community.

Why should Wyandotte Countians care about economic development?

Good business in communities makes good communities.  It’s that simple.  Our local government pays attention to the enterprises that make up a large part of growth in their community and that’s the health and success of the businesses that call Wyandotte County home.

Unlike other economic development councils in other communities, WYEDC takes great pride in not only thinking outside the box when it comes to attracting new business, they also invest their time and energy in providing existing businesses new opportunities to succeed in Wyandotte County.

Also, unlike others, WYEDC works on job creation and opportunities for Wyandotte Countians to thrive where they live by promoting new and existing local businesses and their job requirements so that they have an advantage with these employers in our community.
