Why do you believe in the Wyandotte Economic Development Council?
I believe because I’ve SEEN! As a Board member, I now see “from the inside” WYEDC staff’s impactful work to retain the County’s existing businesses and to help them grow and thrive. Given my “day job,” I’ve been experiencing first hand the way WYEDC works hard to facilitate new development and redevelopment projects to the tune of many hundreds of millions of dollars per year.
Why did you want to serve on the Board of Directors for WYEDC?
WYEDC is hungry. That culture and attitude is to go after and get the company or deal. Some parts of the metro lack the big vision and dedication to make it happen. WYEDC and WYCO have a “fire in their bellies” --- I wanted to be a part of that.
Why should Wyandotte Countians care about economic development?
The growth and prosperity of WYCO businesses and new development brings jobs, tax revenue from visitors, and overall prosperity for WYCO. In just a generation, WYCO has gone from a non-destination to the number one tourist destination in the entire State. That’s an incredible (and on-going) transformation!
