10 Million Visitors Know Wyandotte County and the Kansas City Metropolitan Area Offer World-Class Entertainment!

The Kansas Speedway hosts two NASCAR race events annually at its 1.5 mile race track, along with a number of other races.

Lakeside Speedway is a 4/10 mile dirt track in northern Wyandotte County that hosts a full slate of events annually for stock cars, motorcycles and other racing vehicles.

Kansas City is passionate about soccer, with residents and visitors able to experience a number of entertainment options in Wyandotte County. The MLS club Sporting Kansas City plays their home matches in Children’s Mercy Park, a soccer-specific stadium located near Village West and the Kansas Speedway. The Kansas City NWSL of the National Women’s Soccer League plays its home matches at Legends Field. The Compass Minerals National Development Center opened in 2018 and houses the U.S. Soccer National Development Center and hosts teams and clubs from around the world.

The current independent baseball team Kansas City Monarchs are new in 2021 but are really an ode to the longest running franchise in the history of baseball’s Negro leagues. They share Legends Field with the Kansas City NWSL in the Village West area.

Located at the Kansas Speedway, the Hollywood Casino offers a traditional casino experience with restaurants and lodging, all with views of the Speedway itself. 

The 41st American Royal World Series of Barbecue is the world’s largest barbecue contest and will be held at the Kansas Speedway in September 2021. Live music, activities and a vendor fair supplement the excellent barbecue itself.

Bonner Springs is home to this open-air venue, which is one of the most popular summer concert locations in the Kansas City metropolitan area.
