Business Retention and Expansion

2022 bre report coverWYEDC is highly engaged with existing companies located in Wyandotte County. A dedicated member of the WYEDC team actively conducts site visits with company leaders to identify challenges and opportunities related to retaining and expanding their business. Using the Synchronist Business Information system, WYEDC conducts business interviews, collecting quantitative and qualitative data to track status and identify needs and trends.

WYEDC’s site visits and conversations have led to numerous new pilot programs and initiatives including the Workforce Solutions Program, HR Roundtables, a Workforce Consortium, a Preventive Maintenance workforce training and attraction, and the creation of the first Federation for Advanced Manufacturing Education program in Kansas.

Specifically in 2022, these efforts have resulted in:

  • 19 Expansion/Retention Announcements
    • 565,085 total square feet
    • $91 million in economic development investments
    • 98 net, new jobs
